Guwahati Public School – Guwahati

As early as in 1982, a team of dedicated persons of Guwahati thought of starting English Medium School under the Affiliation of Central Board of Secondary Education from Class I to Class XII with the aim of harmonious development of the child and blending them in all modern creative thoughts of education. Late Bidya Dhar Sarma, retired Education officer of C.B.S.E. was the main initiating force. His meeting with Late Indira Miri, Mrs Renuka Devi Borkataki and Late Pankaj Dhar Barua, men of resources, Philanthropists and lovers of Education solved the problem of starting an English Medium School in the city.

Thus in February, 1982, the Guwahati Public School, one of the wings of the ‘Assam Adarsha Vidyalaya Sanstha’ registered under Registration of Societies Act XXI of1960 (No. 0449 of 0981-82) was started in a rented House of Bamunimaidam, Guwahati with Late B.D. Sarma as its Principal. The School was subsequently shifted to its permanent site at Punjabari within greater Guwahati city on a Hill top surrounded by the ever green forests and science beauty of hilly-ranges aloof from the din and bustle of the city. The location of the school besides natural beauties provides desired educational environment.

The School provides two Mega R.C.C. buildings on a plot of land of 5(five) acres for class rooms, Library, Laboratories, Staff rooms and Office rooms. The patronage of the philanthropist of the city made the institution flourish from strength to strength in all dimensions. Due to its meritorious results and numerous activities for all round development of personality, its enrolment touches thousand by law.

The school by virtue of its status and position succeeded to secure affiliation of C.B.S.E. early in 1988 to Secondary Education and Senior Secondary Education in 1992.
